Welcome to a little experiment of mine. In order to keep my artistic gears from getting gummed up, and to shamelessly use alliteration, I've decided that to create a blog dedicated to my not so finished work! It's so easy to get stuck in the doldrums of summer, especially after graduation.
I recently graduated from Mass College of Art, where I was always poke, prodded, and pressed to make art. This is not a bad thing. (Brace yourself for a minor artistic rant) But there comes a time in most art students' lives during school, where they say, "I can't wait to be out of school and just make art for me." Of course I would make assignments fun for me, no matter what they were, but in the back of my mind, I always wanted to create for fun, without the aid of an assignment to spur my creation into life. Fast forward one month after graduation and me staring blankly at my computer screen, lost in the thousands of millions of tubes that make the internet. On my desktop, I would always see the icons of Flash and Photoshop, looking pathetically at me, begging me to use them, for the love of god, at least edit a photo or something! But nay, the mindless joys of the internet were calling, and who was I to resist? (End of rant)
And so, after being lost in the internet for a month, I find myself stumbling dazed into this blog, filled with a new found determination to create dammit. I like goals, and checking things off lists, and long walks on the beach. So, to rein in my potentially potent power to produce art, and to keep my creative juices flowing, I am about to make a vow.
I solemnly swear to doodle/draw/create/whatever, a something, every day. From a happy little tree to a manic depressive cactus. I will also post said creation on this blog, every day. I can't say when during the day, but it will be posted, maybe when you least expect it, and I hope it brightens your day.
I also promise that each blurb won't be a novel like this one.
And so, to start things off, here's my very first doodle of this year long project. His name is Hank, please be kind to him, he's a gentle soul.
